Late May Bank Holday –

A small number of boats had announced their intention of taking part in the Rally to St Vaast. A couple of boats withdrew in the run up to the weekend because of the weather forecast which said that the easterly winds would continue for the weekend which meant that St Vaast was on a lee shore. That coupled with the need to negotiate a lock would have made the entry difficult. Two other boats suffered gear failure – one mid Channel which meant that no-one made it to St Vaast.
