Easter Rally

Seven boats went to East Cowes where the marina had us all parked in the same bay. Only difficulty was with the late arrival who had to berth down tide at the peak of the ebb. Helped by a small army with roving fenders it passed without significant incident.

Apart from the sunny weather, the highlight of the Rally was the pontoon party where everyone produced some excellent starters which one of the attached photos shows. Most of us were well fed before the Safari Supper started!

A slightly smaller contingent went on to Lymington where the showers are amazing. Each shower cubicle has a heated seat! Mind you, given the cost of a berth at Berthon’s, it’s the least one should expect. We were well looked after by the RLYM YC where all enjoyed an excellent meal.

Tap Dancer was the only boat on the pontoon on Sunday night as everyone else had decided to quit early because of the forecast on Monday. We were joined by the crew of Kamara for an early supper in a still busy dining room at Gins.

In the event an early start from Gins on Monday morning just as the rain stopped gave Tap Dancer a fast passage to Shamrock Quay and an easy berthing well before the wind piped up in the afternoon.
