It is now six months since I had the honour of being elected Commodore of this great Club of ours and I continue to be overwhelmed by the plaudits which are heaped upon the staff and our outstanding facilities at both Ocean Village and Gins by visitors from peer clubs and many others. It is therefore very pleasing to report that we continue to look at the various ways in which we will endeavour to keep up the standards expected. This takes its form in projected changes to the Ocean Village Clubhouse which will enhance the ‘experience’ in many ways ,as well as excellent social functions and, of course, the outstanding quality of our race management which is now coming into it’s own.
On the cruising side a recent visit to the Royal Motor Yacht Club at Poole was extremely well supported with a great amount of banter between the members, few people realise that the RMYC started it’s life with a Clubhouse at the end of Hythe Pier, only a stone's throw from Ocean Village!
Before we look around, Cowes week will be here so hopefully Julia and I will meet many of you at the Cocktail Party and at the dinner cruise on Princess Caroline which will berth at the new Squadron jetty.
Best wishes and good sailing
