Thompson and Golding went in hot pursuit of Bernard Stamm who had gained a healthy early race lead.  Despite both having vastly differing strategies both plunged deep into the Southern Ocean racing each other for the lead separated by just a few miles driven forward by a vast Southern Ocean storm. \nDisaster struck and Hugo Boss was left floundering taking on vast amounts of water as well as the rapidly approaching storm front.
