SUMMARY:Speaker Supper
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Mike Golding. \nMike is an Honorary Life Member of the RSYC. \nHe is the first yachtsman to sail solo non-stop round the world in both directions and complete five circumnavigations \nThe Rescue of Alex Thomson on the Velux 5 Oceans Race 2006/7 \nAlex Thomson ( Hugo Boss) and Mike Golding (Ecover) were two of the three entries – the other being one rather notable Sir Robin Knox Johnson ( Saga) in the V5O solo race around the world from Bilbao to Bilbao with just two stops in Fremantle and Norfolk USA. \nAfter a tough start in storm force conditions one by one each of the Brits were forced to stop and after restarting in Spain. Thompson and Golding went in hot pursuit of Bernard Stamm who had gained a healthy early race lead.  Despite both having vastly differing strategies both plunged deep into the Southern Ocean racing each other for the lead separated by just a few miles driven forward by a vast Southern Ocean storm. \nDisaster struck and Hugo Boss was left floundering taking on vast amounts of water as well as the rapidly approaching storm front. With no ships able to reach Alex\,  Mike who was 90 miles ahead\,  turned his yacht \, Ecover\,  round ………. \nCome and hear all about a daring rendezvous at the eye of the storm – what could possibly go wrong?
