Have you signed up for the Commodore's 500 Club for 2012?
The idea has been running for several years now and has proved a fun way to raise cash for the Commodore's Charity while at the same time giving members a chance to win a tidy cash bonus each month.
Members regular receive a cheque of £350.00 or more, but it could well be substantially more, depending how many of our members' join.This month we began to support Commodore Susan Lamb's charity, Toe in the Water.
At present around 150 RSYC members are signed up, but if all 500 of the individually allocated numbers were taken, the monthly prizepot would be £1,250, with a similar amount going to the Foundation.
It works like this - a ceiling of 500 numbers are individually allocated exclusively to RSYC members who each subscribe £5 a month, either by direct debit or by a one-off annual cheque for £60.
During the month a draw is made in the Ocean Village office or at a social function. Half the month's contribution goes to the lucky winner; the other half, less minor operating expenses is allocated directly to Toe in the Water, and could mean up to £12,000 in a full year. Just think how this could help the support of injured ex-servicemen.
