Backlash II
Tony has done three round Britain and Ireland races and an Azores and Back, following two what were called the Yachting Monthly triangle.
The last around Britain was in this boat Backlash II with Matt Theobold, the previous ones were in a Woods Banshee Backlash which was owned at one time by, I believe a RSYC member Geofrey Back. a boat in which Tony did many RSYC two handed races.
This boat is an Australian design by Schionning a Waterline 11.6 built in Plymouth at the multihull centre now six years old and much different from the banshee a good 20% faster, handled the weather in the last Round Britain very well.
Matt has sailed with Tony for the last three years doing last years round Britain as a 20 year old in Backlash 11 as co-skipper, nursing Tony round after Ireland where he suffered two broken ribs. We might well be the youngest and the oldest in this race.
