BELGIAN GRAND PRIX

Royal Southampton member Steve Curtis saw his dream of retaining the Powerboat World Championship disappear today in the Grand Prix of Qatar. ExtremeBoat, the British Dragon boat of Mike Shelton and Jackie Hunt won the Powerboat P1 Belgian Grand Prix of the Sea. Its double win moves the team into a commanding position in the SuperSport World Championship with just the Portuguese Grand Prix remaining. The lead changed no fewer than four times, the husband and wife pairing being pushed all the way by VoomVoom, the diesel-powered Hustler of Vee Ganjavian and Charlie Williams Hawkes. Only a last lap navigational blip prevented a win for VoomVoom.
