ROYAL Southampton honorary member, Ben Ainslie has taken his Olympic skills to Bermuda and in the opening day of the King Edward V11 Gold up races at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club at Hamilton took a perfect three wins in the three races of the day. And that's in spite of this contretemps during one of the races when Ben's bow, on the left, tangled with rival reigning champion Mathieu Richard, leading to victory for Ben >>>more

With fine weather arriving for the Southampton Boat Show the Club’s involvement in the RSYC/RYA Lounge was once again appreciated by our members, members of the RYA and our reciprocal clubs. In fact nearly 5,000 people passed through our doors and gave grateful thanks for this facility which is part of our traditional welcome to the Show. I must thank all our staff who have worked untiringly to make this such a success and also to members who gave up their time to act as welcoming hosts.
I know it would seem premature to talk about next year's Show but we are aware that changes will be taking place on the existing site, so we continue to build on our relationship with the British Marine Federation / National Boat Shows and of course the RYA and will keep everyone informed as time goes by.
With autumn upon us we look forward to a full programme of Sunday morning racing together with social events at both Gins and Ocean Village and with the excellent catering and new menu at Southampton in particular I look forward to the start of the development programme which was approved so emphatically at the recent EGM ( thanks to the working party and the administration team, they know who they are!).
Best wishes and fair winds
