ISLAND HARBOUR FAMILY WEEKEND

HOME ¦ CLUB ¦ RACING ¦ MOTOR BOATS ¦ WHAT'S ON ¦ GINS ¦ DINING

August 23/24

Hosts: Bill & Margaret Roper (Mistress)

This weekend and the following rally to Bembridge, have been tailor made for families. Both venues have the advantage of being situated in two of the most idyllic spots in the Solent.

Island Harbour has been a favourite haunt but we have given it a rest for the last couple of years, so now is the time to make a family week end of it again.

Island Harbour lies on the Medina, a mile or so upstream from The Folly. There is a lock where motor boats can enter roughly two hours either side of high tide and sailing boats about half that.

One of us will tow six 'Oppies' up from UKSA for the 'messing about in boats' and for Sunday morning racing within the Marina. Usual rules; any protest incurs automatic disqualification!

A barbecue is provided (except for the food and drink) for Saturday evening supper on the green. Sunday lunch at The Bistro on site.

The walk to The Folly is not far, or you could take your dinghy up to Newport

Out for the weekend
