The first ever Marie Curie Cancer Care Regatta. Hosted by the Royal Yacht Squadron, takes place in August and will set the pattern for a similar regatta next year to be hosted by the Royal Southampton.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is the charity nominated by the Commodore, Colin Lewis.
This year's Regatta will consist of two races. All monies raised will enable the charity to provide more care for terminally ill cancer patients and their families in the Solent area.
It will include a full programme of social events, including the prize giving on the RYS platform with a gala dinner at the Royal Yacht Squadron’s pavilion that evening. Supporters may enter a yacht in the regatta and/or purchase gala dinner tickets.
The first race starts on Saturday, August 30 at 10am, and consists of two races for each class (dependant on entries).
Class I Super fast handicap – race sailing, cruising classes and charter boats
Class II Three/four IRC Classes
The Regatta is open to any yacht with a valid IRC Rating Certificate. Berthing will be at Cowes Yacht Haven the cost of which will be included in the entry fee.
Racing competitors are requested to register by Tuesday, July 1. Notice of race details and an entry form will be forwarded after registration.

The Gala Dinner in the evening at the Royal Yacht Squadron Pavilion, starts with a champagne reception, followed by a black tie dinner with dancing to Westway. There will be an auction during the dinner. For further details please contact
