Sue Neath and Robert Lamb have just returned from the ISAF World Championships in Perth.
Hillarys yacht Club was responsible for the RS:X Class (windsurfing) which ran from December 5 to 18 when 68 women and 91 men battled throughout the 42 race schedule in variable conditions.
The weather in Perth was far from typical with the renowned Freemantle Doctor doing his rounds only a few times during the event. The victor at the Olympic Test Event in Weymouth, Dorian van Rijsselberghe from the Netherlands, tasted success again winning the Men's division of the RS:X Class; Lee Korzits (ISR) was victorious after fending off the other Olympic Test Event champion, Zofia Noceti-Klepacka from Poland, in the Women's division.
Sue was invited to attend the ISAF Worlds by Hillarys Yacht Club so she could bring her expertise, handling the Swiss Timing results and data programme, that she learned at the Olympic Test Event.
She presented Vice Commodore Chris Grant with the Royal Southampton burgee at the team's barbecue towards the end of the event.
Rob attended as the ISAF Race Officer in charge of the RS:X course. Many friends were made with the Hillarys team during the event so we can expect to see one or two Aussies in the future when they pay RSYC a visit.
