Lynne Mintram has retired from the Royal Southampton Yacht Club.
She has been the friendly face behind the bar for over 21 years, having joined the Club shortly after the move to Ocean Village and was presented to Prince Michael of Kent, our Admiral, at the official opening of the clubhouse, and worked alongside her husband Rod who served the club for 16 years.
Rear Commodore House, Graham Davies, said: "Over this time Lynne has contributed enormously to the Club’s atmosphere welcoming members, guests and organisations holding functions there. Her knowledge of remembering member’s names is exemplary; I don’t know how she does it! I know she will be missed by many members with her friendly welcome and always time for a chat."
Lynne requested that she did not want a formal leaving ceremony but many members still turned up on her last day to wish her well. The Commodore, Peter Armitage was there to present a framed commemorative photograph of herself at the Ocean Village bar. There was a presentation from the staff by bar manager Michael Elvis, and flowers presented by Rear Commodore House, Graham Davies.
Members donated to Lynne’s Retirement Gift Fund "so that we could provide her with something to demonstrate our appreciation for her dedicated long service," said the Rear Commodore.
