Highlight of the Royal Southampton's prizegiving evening was the award of trophies to series winners throught the year.
But Captain of Racing, Bob Trimble did interrupt the programme to offer the Club's congratulations to regular Club racers Sarah Treseder and Juan Moreno on their engagement.
Sarah is chief executive of the Royal Yachting Association and Juan is Senior Business Architect with US software company Pegasystems Ltd
Their boat is Salamander, a Sigma 33. At the prizegiving they collected a class award for the Club's Yarmouth race and rally in October to support the RNLI. As well as the Yarmouth Race they're also regular competitors in the Club's Double Handed series.
Said Bob: "My congratulations were completely off the cuff as I'd only just learned about their engagement a few minutes before.
"I did ask Sarah if they were planning a wedding next August but she seemed to think there were one or two other things going on then."
